F*CK OFF, I’M WRITING!!

F*CK OFF, I’M WRITING!! About a year ago I got kicked out of an online memoir writing group for saying that ‘…sometimes I use the F-word in my writing if it’s appropriate’. I was told by the moderator: ‘…Only writers who don’t have a good use of vocabulary have to resort to profanity to get their point across’… Resort to profanity? I never said I resorted to it. I said ‘I’d use it if it were appropriate.’ I was then asked to refrain from that kind of language in the group or I’d be banned from the group. HUH?? Banned? From a writing group? For using a word? Isn’t it our 1st Amendment right of free speech? According to Wikipedia “The average person swears 80 times a day” What about all the many Classic books in literature? TWELVE PEOPLE WHO WERE SUCCESSFUL IN SPITE OF THEIR MENTAL ILLNESS

TWELVE FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO WERE SUCCESSFUL IN SPITE OF THEIR MENTAL ILLNESS From Mike Wallace to Mark Twain…they not only survived but thrived. I was doing research for an upcoming book I am working on about Creative People. I found quite a few famous people who suffered from serious and not so serious bouts of: Depression Mental illness Bi-Polar disorder OCD issues and other ‘craziness’… but were still quite successful. ITS NOT THE HARVEST YOU REAP BUT THE SEEDS YOU SOW

IT’S NOT THE HARVEST YOU REAP BUT THE  SEEDS YOU SOW As I was running errands today I saw this quote  on a drive-in movie marquee, “IT’S NOT THE HARVEST YOU REAP BUT THE SEEDS YOU SOW”  I like it. I believe in it. I resonate with it. Today I planted a lot of seeds so I’m pleased. Every day I plant seeds towards my writing career. I throw seeds around. I scatter them everywhere!  I do this because I believe the more seeds I scatter the more likely some of them will grow into a new harvest of some kind.  Of course, I have no idea which ones will grow into something and which ones will not.  JUST LIKE IN GARDENING… KEEP THROWING SEEDS OUT THERE! I am definitely not a gardener but this reminds me of last spring when Bob and I started a vegetable garden. We planted a bunch of peppers,…

AM I ‘OFFICIALLY AN OLD GEEZER?’

AM I ‘OFFICIALLY AN OLD GEEZER’? I got the Senior Discount in Vegas this weekend.UGH! So I went to visit my old friend Sandi in Las Vegas this past week. We were at a casino and they offered me the senior discount! OMG. I’m 55. Honestly, I never really think of myself as a ‘senior’  so it hit me kinda hard. Maybe it just hasn’t sunk in yet that I am …….OLD (?) and that I am now entitled to ‘perks’ like a $4 movie ticket $2 off the buffet better gambling deals a 10% off coupon for Starbucks. WOOHOO. I guess I should’ve guessed that I was getting to be an official senior when I recently found a bunch of gray hair (for the first time ever), saw that  my neck had some new odd looking wrinkles, noticed that my two front teeth were weirdly chipped, AND I have strange bluish veins…
