SYNCHRONICITY!

SYNCHRONICITY!  Not one but two synchronistic things happened yesterday. First, I  saw this article by Chad Gillls called ‘You won’t win until they start betting against you’. It reminded me of me lately. I am starting a brand new exciting business venture. No one is really ‘betting against me’ but I do feel that I need to protect my idea (like protecting a baby) from any type of negative energy or doubters so I haven’t said much about it to too many people. Today a psychic(yes psychic) friend called me and said excitedly, “I know your idea is going to be SO BIG! Its gonna explode. You will have to hire assistants to help you soon. I just feel it. I know it.’ Ok I did get excited but not because she said that. But, because deep down I feel the exact same way. I don’t want to jinx it…

You won’t win until they start betting against you

Beautiful article. I can relate totally. Enjoy! You won’t win until they start betting against you by Chad Gills She witnessed her friend get hit and killed by a car. On top of that, her parents were getting divorced. Then two more of her friends from school died suddenly. Life was terrifying and confusing. She was only 16. The girl’s father didn’t know what else to do, so he bought his daughter a motivational set of tapes called How to Be a No-Limit Person. The girl listened to the tapes. She became meticulous about the information she fed her mind. She soon made a habit of listening to motivational and inspirational CD’s. (Insert eye-rolling from the cynics and gutless here.) Because she was still in high school, her interests became a running joke amongst her friends and classmates: “It actually became a joke in high school, because nobody wanted to ride home…

FROM BURNOUT TO PASSION

FROM BURN OUT TO PURPOSE A history of my recent art business burn out phrasal verb of burn , be completely consumed and thus no longer aflame. I had an art business since 1999. I made mixed media polymer clay sculptures. It was a pretty successful business and I made a decent living at it for many years (at art festivals and at my studio/gallery) — until last year when I became completely burned out. I realized 3 years ago while I was traveling around the country alone to art festivals (in my U-Haul full of art) that I had no more feeling for it — and had to stop. I really hated everything about it. Driving alone with deadlines to shows (I’m super bad at maps and I got lost far too many times on dark highways in foreign cities! grr) Setting up the art booth and tent outside — -sometimes in rain,…

TONY BENNETT IS A RARE HUMAN

I SURE LOOOOVE TONY BENNETT He’s 90 years old and ‘Just Getting Started’. I saw Tony Bennett last night on an interview talking about his wonderful life and how he just celebrated his 90th birthday. DAMN. This guy makes me teary-eyed every time I watch him. His inspirational happy vibe and total appreciation for life is contagious and life affirming. His new book is called ‘Just Getting Started’. Can you believe it? He’s just getting started at 90. What is OUR problem? I’m 55 and sometimes I can sense my time clock ticking and sometimes feel I don’t have that much time left. Tony seems to savor and appreciate each moment and just emanates gratitude and reverence for life! The Wall Street Journal reviewed his book this way: ‘What comes through in all 42 chapters is the singer’s gratitude…Let’s hope this new generation can learn a lesson from Mr. Bennett’s unflagging…

CHOOSE TO SPEND YOUR TIME DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

CHOOSE TO SPEND YOUR TIME DOING WHAT YOU LOVE ‘You can spend your whole life doing what you don’t want to do, and die. Or you can spend your life doing what you do want to do, and die. The end result is the same. The question is whether or not you are going to enjoy yourself in the meantime.’ From the article ‘Do What You Are Meant To Do’ by Dan Pedersen Today while working I turned on a few news channels (Fox News and CNN) to check in on the North Korea, Syria, world situation. I do think its important to stay in the ‘know’, especially with the serious world issues — although it is a frustrating feeling of helplessness in most cases. Today they were discussing Iran. One pundit said affirmatively that it’s just inevitable and a matter of time before Iran becomes another North Korea. ARGH! So everywhere…

20 WONDERFUL DEFINITIONS OF CREATIVITY

20 WONDERFUL DEFINITIONS OF CREATIVITY I’m in a super creative mood today. I could relate to most of these. How about you? “Seeing the intersection of seemingly unrelated topics and combining them into something new.” — Brian Clark “Starting with nothing and ending up with something. Interpretin something you saw or experienced and processing it so it comes out different than how it went in.” — Henry Rollins “Building universes out of nothing.” — Danny Sullivan “Tapping into your soul and your intuition and allowing them to guide what you make.” — Bernadette Jiwa “Giving the world something it didn’t know it was missing.” — Daniel Pink “Going to unexpected places.” — Shane Snow “Living in possibility and abundance rather than limitation and scarcity.” — CJ Lyons “To me, creativityis seeing and communicating ideas in ways that are unique, compelling, and unexpected.” — Lee Odden “One part inspiration, one part motivation.” — Ann Handley “The strange partnership between a human being’s labor and the mystery of inspiration.” — Elizabeth Gilbert…

THE POWER OF INTENSITY

YOU’RE SO INTENSE Ok so?   A friend Barb said yesterday, “you are intense’. Yea yeah I know I have serious intensity, but now I am channeling my intensity into my Art Shoe business and it’s a positive channel. I think for intense people we can go two ways sometimes. Down the intensity road of seriousness, depression or negativity or BUCK UP and use our intensity in a good way. The world situation is also very intense. That’s obvious. Intense emotions abound, it seems! I am using my intensity now in my new art business. (Making art shoes almost 9 hours a day.) Hey, I am a one woman start up company so I have to focus on it intensely, dedicate to my ideas and channel my intensity into creative expression! I dream of ideas at night and what I will make the following day. It is intensely fun too and is…

IT REALLY ALL COMES DOWN TO JUST TWO FORCES

IT REALLY ALL COMES DOWN TO JUST TWO FORCES I just read an article about the 1972 book, called The Inner Game of Tennis: The Classic Guide to the Mental Side of Peak Performance, written by Timothy Gallwey, The book was mainly about our higher vs lower self. In the book the author called it simply Self 1 and Self 2 . I was thinking of all the other names for these two opposing energies in the Universe. There seem to be so many. Could these all be the same thing? Possible alternate names for the two forces the ‘dark vs light’ the ‘sabateur’ vs the ‘inner child’ the ‘higher Self’ vs ‘lower self’ the ‘ego’ vs ‘THE EGO’ the ‘devil vs ‘the holy’ (in religious circles) the ‘inner critic’ vs the ‘innocent child’ the ‘shadow self’ vs the ‘real self’ (according to the late Debbie Ford) Or to wrap it up even more…

AHA! I’M A ‘COMBINER’.

AHA! I‘M A ‘COMBINER’   com·bine1 verb gerund or present participle: combining kəmˈbīn/ synonyms:amalgamate, integrate, incorporate, merge, mix, fuse, blend; More synonyms:co-operate, collaborate, join forces, get together, unite, team up, throw in one’s lot; I’ve  always been a creative person and I just discovered that I’ve always loved COMBINATIONS of things. I groove on COMBINING things that others might not see. Putting things together and making a new ‘thing’ has always excited me. It dawned on me today that I am happiest in my life when COMBINING elements together which is why I’m in such a groove now designing my new shoes for my ARTISTIC SHOE business! Back when I wrote songs it was fun COMBINING lyrics with music. When I produced or sang in concert it was always fun to me to COMBINE different songs together in medleys. (I always loved medleys a lot). When I spent many years making…
