Bob and I are both super sick. Spent most of the day with chills, hot flash vomiting etc.FUN!!?. We just got back from spending a few days visiting his family in Louisville, KY. We went out to a few restaurants while we were there but we think we might have caught this ‘virus’ (food poisoning type thing) from his mom and sister who said they were super sick recently; throwing up etc. SO I’m too damn weak to type. Instead, I’ll share a great recent article from  Zatmer Rana about Albert Einstein. ENJOY! View story at Medium.com View story at Medium.com

HOLD ON FOR THE RIDE

HOLD ON FOR THE RIDE. Life is craaaaazzzzy lately. Just like in nature I feel there’s strong change in the air in so many peoples lives and in so many areas. Weather patterns. All over the place. NUTSO. Politics. All over the place. NUTSO. Our personal lives. All over the place. NUTSO? It’s all change. It all feels — new. If we expect nature to stay the same, it won’t. It changes often. It’s a fact. Nature is always shifting. Some say it’s because of Global Warming. Some don’t know why there is so much craziness and change, but most agree that it is true. Lots of upheaval. But, in the history of the world, nature has never stayed the same.   Change is inevitable. Change is the only constant. The icecaps are shifting. Species are going extinct etc. Donald is on the loose! (HA) Even if nature seems to have…

I’M SO GLAD SHE WASN’T PUT ON MEDICATION AND TOLD TO CALM DOWN.

I’M SO GLAD SHE WASNT PUT ON MEDICATION AND TOLD TO CALM DOWN. Gillian Lynn was a British ballerina, dancer, choreographer, actress, and theatre-television director, noted for her popular theater choreography associated with two of the longest-running productions Cats and Phantom of the Opera. She was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Choreography and won many dance awards. Later in her life she was asked by an interviewer ‘How did you become a dancer?’ She said, ‘I was a young girl in the 1940s and I was very was hyper. My mom took me to many doctors and specialists. One doctor said ‘ We think she has a learning disorder.’ (ADHD hadn’t been invented yet or they might’ve lumped her in that category which is what many doctors do nowadays.) She sat on her hands for twenty minutes, sitting in the stark oak doctors office while her mother talked to…

DON’T THINK I AM THE SAME PERSON I WAS YESTERDAY

DON’T THINK I AM THE SAME PERSON I WAS YESTERDAY — because I might have completely changed Funny how much life can change so quickly — it can become totally new. A situation, awareness or crisis can change us profoundly, to our core. What we once thought was true, or thought we knew, can become totally different in a moment. A year ago my desire was to write a lot of books. Now I’ve changed my tune on that. I remember when Oprah had her TV show and she said: ‘We all have a right to change our minds!’ Now I am not motivated by the need to get books out there. A filmmaker friend Bob Belinoff and I were talking on the phone last week. Just one comment he made might have changed my mind completely. He said: ‘People don’t read F*CKIN BOOKS ANYMORE which is why I switched my passion…

CONSISTENT EXPERIMENTS AND PATIENCE ARE KEY

CONSISTENT EXPERIMENTS AND PATIENCE ARE KEY when starting a new business venture. ‘Don’t expect a sudden breakthrough. A good career mission is similar to a scientific breakthrough. It takes a lot of consistent experiments to get to that all important discovery’ — DEAN SIMONTON So for the past two weeks, I have been nose-down, dedicated and devoted to my new business idea. My new home business is called ARTISTIC SHOES FROM THE SOLE. I am making one of a kind artistic shoes. They are fun and diverse. I have my website and etsy page almost ready to go live. Probably within the month. www.artisticshoes.com These are not my shoes but similar to what I will be making. . Right now I am in the middle of making shoes for friends and family to begin with so that I can practice my technique. I am working on all of these shoes: W0nderwoman comic shoes for…

WE MUST DO THESE THINGS TO BE A SUCCESSFUL ARTIST

WE MUST DO  THESE THINGS TO BE A SUCCESSFUL ARTIST. That’s what all the experts seem to say.   I researched the subject of ‘how to be a successful artist’ for a book I am writing and SURPRISE. SURPRISE! These 4 things came up every single time — so, I thought Id share them with you. I think all four of these things are things we’ve all heard before but HEY I like redundancy! It’s ok to hammer things in to our skulls sometimes to make our point, so here goes: 1. DAILY WORK Most great artists achieve their goals by putting in the time every single day. Work on your art, creative goal EVERY single day and you WILL become better. ‘Why every single day? Why not just when I have time?’ ‘I mean if I work one hour Monday to Friday why can’t I do 5 hours on Saturday or…

FINGERNAILS, HAIR AND HOPE

FINGERNAILS, HAIR AND HOPE They all grow back.   I’ve bitten my fingernails and cuticles since I was in my teens. After an intense football game or scary movie, I can look down at my hands and all my nails are GONE! I never worry because in a few days they come back so even if they look like a gnarled mess they’ll grow and I can paint them again and my hands can look semi normal. It’s nice to know that they grow back. Recently I gave myself a horrible home hair cut. I was using my boyfriends Home Hair Cutting Kit and accidentally cut one side super short. Ooopseee. ( I used the wrong attachment. The one that scalps you QUICK!). So then I tried to even up the other side so at least they would match! WRONG! Nope. I made it far worse. So then I had to…

SOMETIMES YOU GET THE EXACT OPPOSITE RESULT OF WHAT YOU HOPE FOR.

SOMETIMES YOU GET THE EXACT OPPOSITE RESULT OF WHAT YOU HOPE FOR. This happened after publishing 3 books. So I’ll share something funny with you. The exact opposite happened after I published my 3 books last year. After spending almost a year writing these books I thought that I would feel: More peaceful More connected to others and the world More clear about my life More understood by family and friends More sure of my writing and my life Well, none of those things happened. The exact opposite happened. I felt: More confused More unclear Less connected to others Less sure about my writing life. Haha. WTF?? So, I spent all that time writing those three books thinking that they were a good positive, life-affirming thing. As I was writing them I felt sure that I HAD to share my work. I was also sure that I could not hold my words…

SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HOLDING THEIR BREATH.

SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HOLDING THEIR BREATH. Today is the day we will know whether we still have ObamaCare or not. It seems that many are holding their breath lately, not just about ObamaCare but about a lot of issues. Are we a country of breath holding people? It seems that way. One friend Jackie is holding her breath because her health took an odd unexplained turn and she is baffled by it. She says she doesn’t trust her doctors and she is living in limbo. Another friend Vicki is holding her breath because she has a son with an addiction and feels no control over him. She is holding her breath that he will find help and turn his life around. Another friend Amy is holding her breath because her financial situation is crappy and she has no real answers to what she will do next to support her kids.…

IF YOU’RE BRAVE ENOUGH OFTEN ENOUGH — YOU WILL FALL.

IF YOU’RE BRAVE ENOUGH OFTEN ENOUGH — YOU WILL FALL. Just GET IN THE ARENA! Ilove author Brene Browns work. She is one of the top TedTalk speakers. She wrote many bestselling books like, ‘Rising Strong’, ‘Daring Greatly’ and ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’. She has spent her career researching vulnerability and creativity. I love her wisdom and I try to live by it. She talks about ‘getting in the arena’ often. She says that when you put yourself and your work out there — — that means you are now ‘in the arena’. You are now a brave soul. You are a creative person who is not settling for the sidelines, or being a chicken shit. You are throwing your work out there which is brave. She says if you are a creative person: ‘You are not gonna RISK falling. No. Its GUARANTEED that you WILL fall. Your gonna get hurt.’ If…
