SHIT SANDWICH?

WHICH VERSION OF SHIT SANDWICH ARE YOU WILLING TO EAT? Urban Dictionary: Shit Sandwich “It’s one big shit sandwich and we’re all gonna have to take a bite.” I heard a wonderful Youtube interview with Author of ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ Liz Gilbert the other day. She said: ‘Everything in life comes with its own version of a shit sandwich.’ or another way of putting it: ‘Finding your true purpose is really deciding which flavor of shit sandwich you are really in for.’ Yep, every single thing that is worthwhile in life most likely comes with a price…a shit sandwich. I was thinking about our wonderful kitty KUNG FU for example. We love him with our whole heart. He’s a great loving beautiful sweet cat. Here he is: On one hand, he’s a lover and a sweetheart, on the other hand, the ‘shit sandwich’  is that he wakes us up almost every…

10 NEW WORDS I’VE NEVER HEARD OF!

TEN NEW WORDS I’VE NEVER HEARD OF! It all started with ‘Harissa’ Yesterday I was at Trader Joes shopping for a new salsa. One of my simple pleasures in life is buying interesting new salsas. Actually, I put salsa on almost anything and everything, from eggs to fish to steak to sandwiches and I even eat it with a spoon right out of the container. Hey, its a great way to get a veggie serving per day! So Trader Joes has some of the greatest varieties of nifty salsas at super low prices.Yesterday I saw a brand new flavor!  ‘HARISSA SALSA”? It was described as: ‘Chunky red salsa with sweet red peppers, earthy heat, and spices’. Ok, that sounded right up my alley. I asked Bob to please come here and taste it. It was TO DIE FOR!! He didn’t want to. I insisted. “Just put a little on a…

MY LINUS BLANKET

LIKE LINUS…I LOVE MY BLANKET! It’s the small things in life that matter Ok … I really love super soft mega fuzzy blankets. There’s something about the fabric of a very soft blanket that just makes me happy. Also robes, slippers, and socks. Anything super fuzzy and soft aginst my skin! I like the feeling of the fluffy puffy softness of my blanket on my face and body.  A few years ago I got this mega soft leopard patterned blanket. I’ve had it for 5 years. It’s  more of a throw blanket. For some odd reason, this blanket instantly calms me no matter what mood I am in. I love this blanket. So do my kitties. I even take this blanket on road trips with me to various hotels when I travel. When I get to a hotel room I  spread out this blanket on the bed and instantly feel peaceful. It’s…

THE LINK BETWEEN CREATIVITY AND MADNESS

The link between Creativity and Madness. Here are some findings from my research. I was feeling a bit crazy, mad and unusually insane today. It felt like I was slipping into some sort of a low-grade depression. It might be a combination of personal stuff and the whole weird world situation, I don’t know. My melancholy has always been present in my life, thankfully not as deep as poet Sylvia Plath who put her head in an oven to kill herself while her kids were asleep in her house. But, a feeling of angst seems to have seeped into my veins lately. I wondered if depression, melancholy, and madness were a common theme with writers? I found that: There’s a definite LINK between creativity and madness. This link between creativity and madness subject has always resonated with me. On my list of things to write about, this topic seems to always jump…

THREE GENERATIONS of CREATIVE REBEL SOULS

‘BUKOWSKI, BEATRICE AND ME.’ Three generations of Creative Rebel Souls. So I discovered this wonderful author and poet online the other day named Charles Bukowski. I had never heard of him and I am so glad I found him while randomly searching YouTube. I totally resonated with his spunk, sarcasm, talent, wit, rebel spirit and of course his tragedy. Here’s what some have said about him: ‘Hilarious man but very tragic and ill.’ ‘He’s kind of cheerful and miserable at the same time’. ‘He was a miserable bastard but his words were so damn profound.’ ‘ Shakespeare of the down and out!’ ‘Hands down one of my favorite writers and poets’. ‘Salty old fart, reminds me of me.’ ‘At least Bukowski lived the life he wrote about. A lot of poets are posers.’ ‘Very talented man, a very important piece of american culture.’ ‘He makes more sense as a rambling drunk…

Holding down the Jack -in –the Box

HOLDING IN OUR SECRETS is like holding down a Jack-in-the Box!     I’ve been thinking about secrets lately. It could be because I am writing my Memoir and its hard not to look at secrets. I thought of this analogy : Holding secrets IN is like a Jack -in-the-Box. If you don’t deal with them  they will eventually pop up — and hit you in the face! So, we might as well ‘JUST DO IT’. Like a band aid. Rip off that secret and expose it. YEAH! This might explain why many people decide to write Memoirs later in their life. They want to come clean about their lives and reveal their secret stuff. Are you holding down pain, anger, any secretive emotion? Are you not getting your secrets out by sharing them with someone? Anyone? I think this might be the cause of much pain and anguish in peoples lives. HOLDING SHIT IN…

A FEW POEMS FROM MY FIRST POETRY BOOK

SOME POEMS FROM MY BOOK:  ‘Catch a Poem by the Tale’ Julie Andrews lost her voice in 1997 from a vocal chord issue. JULIE ANDREWS Julie Andrews can’t sing anymore She lost her sweet voice. Some say it’s a pity, yes it’s a shame and it was not even her choice. The doctor said Julie, no singing! She moaned and cried, why me? After years of severe self-pity, She wrote children’s books and was set free. She knew that she must express but her voice now came from her pen Not the notes from her mouth but the lines on the page made her joyful and lively again. It’s hard to explain to a novice who is not a creator as such, When creative expression is stifled, Your soul will miss it so much.  It took me from January to May to finish this first book. This poem I used as…

CALLED TO WRITE.

Michelle Monet Feb 20 I posted this article on medium.com today in a group called “All about writing’.  It is addressed to other writers but I thought Id share it here too.  DO YOU FEEL “CALLED” TO WRITE? I definitely was. ONE OF THE BOOKS I am working on is called ‘My Call to Write’ — Excerpts and Essays from a Writers Journal’. This book will chronicle my journey from last January (when I got my serious call to write) through today. The catalyst for my writing ‘frenzy’ was when my beloved cat named BigBoy died. He had a horrible cancerous tumor in his mouth and I watched him slowly wither away and succumb to this disease.  I was like his nurse for the past few months of his life. It was a heartbreaking time for me. I loved this guy with all my heart. I had him for 16 years and he was close to…

Memoir: ‘Not Sprint But Marathon’

I was asked recently to write a short essay about my Memoir writing journey for the “Women’s Writing Circle’ network. Thanks to Susan Weidener for featuring my story on her site.  Women’s Writing Circle A place to share our stories . . . by Susan Weidener Monday, February 13, 2017 Memoir: ‘Not Sprint But Marathon’ by Michelle Monet   I met poet and writer Michelle Monet through an online memoir writing group. Here at the Women’s Writing Circle, it has been our pleasure to feature authors from around the world with a variety of experiences and backgrounds. In that tradition, please welcome Michelle who candidly confesses how memoir is often a marathon of soul-searching and digging deep, but ultimately leads to hidden treasure. People always suggested I write my story because I’ve had an interesting life. I have sung on some of the largest stages and for some of the largest audiences in the world.…

C’mon Donald Kant you spell??

C’MON DONALD KANT YOU SPELL? I found some embarrassing misspelled Tweets by Trump. I’ve always been a stickler for spelling. I’m not the type that can win or even enter a spelling bee but I always seem to be able to spot misspellings. I was doing a random Google Search today and happened to run across some of Donald Trumps Tweets. OMG! For fun I thought I’d share them with you all because they are just funny. This is not a political post. Just a silly post. Even if you are not a spelling aficionado these might give you a chuckle, and I think we ALL could use a chuckle these days. Ok, here are just a few. ENJOY! 1. LOSE vs LOOSE. Ok we will give him a pass. Its an honest mistake to make. ‘Lose cannon’? From July 2016 2. Great HONER? Ohh ya mean HONOR. (I almost misread it…
